OK - I'll get this topic started too. Just some thoughts about this surgery. Is it worth it? Does it work for everyone?
My cousin had gastric bypass surgery about 3 years ago and lost 100 pounds in a year. She did great, and only got sick (threw up) a few times when she ate too much. Three years later, she's size 8/10 and says she feels amazing. She had followed every rule to the letter, eating exactly as instructed, and working out at a gym with a trainer who understood her situation. Plus she had a huge support system, which I think was one of the main reasons why she did so well. Another woman I know had the surgery too, but wasn't as compliant about the diet or exercise. She lost most of the weight she had wanted to lose, but got sick a lot, ended up depressed, a lot of her hair has fallen out, and she feels rotten. She just doesn't look good. Plus she's having marital problems, which all started when she had the surgery. I guess it's not for everyone.
