Gratitude and Greetings | 2/17/2008

I am so grateful for the events of the past week. With the CurvyGirl story on CBS 3 I have finally been able to let women all over the region hear our message that Fitness Comes in Many Sizes. The fact is that more women today are overweight than ever before, but they still have not come out of the closet as far as exercise is concerned. I want everyone to know I am on a mission to get more women to start taking better care of themselves. This will include small changes and baby steps to start. Becoming more fit, moving, sweating and feeling pretty good about yourself will take you to places you never knew existed. I remember my own journey, and I can honestly say I developed a whole new perspective on what I was capable of when I decided to embrace exercise.
For the past three days I have received so many positive and supportive emails and phone calls about the Channel 3 interview. This morning at Bally’s I was stopped by a number of members and staff who saw the story. They were so kind and acknowledged that women are ready for this approach. And they’re right - it’s our time! I was so happy and excited to see Stephanie Stahl’s final product and I thought it looked great. It really showcased my message and focused on the COMMUNITY that I so wanted everyone to become part of. I thank all of you who have supported my efforts and to the new people who will embrace this into their lives.
I wanted to say hi to all of the new women who have joined the CurvyGirl COMMUNITY and purchased our video since the story ran. And welcome to the new faces in my classes. Soon you’ll begin to feel the benefit of the workout and will realize that you can get fit and have fun in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding.
I‘m off to take Hannah (my therapy dog) out for a 4 mile walk as she needs to exercise also and she loves to be outdoors. Most who know her love her. She is very intelligent and such a loving girl. Everyone knows Hannah is the love of my life.
For those of you live in the Philadelphia area, don’t forget - there’s still time to train for power-walking the Broad Street Run in May. This is how we start, taking one step at a time to move forward.
